How to Simplify Grid Scale Renewable Connections
Global renewable energy adoption continues to grow, bringing new challenges for electrical engineers.
With an increasing amount of renewable energy connections moving into the future, a cost effective and integrated engineering solution is a useful piece of equipment for this application.
NOJA Power’s RC-20 series of controllers, coupled with the OSM recloser Switchgear provide a reliable platform to economically integrate grid-scale renewable energy to the grid.
The RC-20 controller offers a wide range of renewable specific protection, power quality and data logging functionality that can be applied in either a pole mounted or ground mount kiosk format.
This includes Rate of Change of Frequency (ROCOF), Voltage Vector Shift (VVS) and Synchrocheck with Autosynchroniser included in the standard RC-20 protection suite.
These capabilities are further enhanced by the RC-20’s integrated Synchrophaser PMU and the Power Quality engine [measuring up to the 63rd harmonic] to report on site performance and condition monitoring.
NOJA Power has multiple installation use cases for connecting renewables with the RC-20, including the Kanowna Solar farm in NSW Australia.
“Our GMK product combined with an RC-20 can provide the complete interface for largescale renewable sites, including medium voltage protection, metering and power quality all integrated into a single package solution,” says NOJA Power Group Managing Director Neil O’Sullivan.
